About Me

I'm Fernando Pérez Bueno, Ph.D. in Information and Communication Technologies (UGR 2022), Telecommunications Engineer (UGR 2015), and Master's Degree in Data Science and Computer Engineering (UGR 2019).

I am a postdoc at the Karolinska Institutet. Before this, I was a Senior Computer Vision Engineer at Koh Young Research Spain, and a Juan de la Cierva postdoc researcher at the Basque Center for Brain, Cognition, and Language, hosted by Dr. Cesar Caballero Gaudes. I received my Ph.D. as a member of the Visual Information Processing Group in the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (UGR), supervised by Prof. Rafael Molina and Prof. Valery Naranjo. I've also been a guest researcher at the University of Stavanger with Prof. Kjersti Engan and at Harvard Medical School & Massachusetts General Hospital with Prof. Juan Eugenio Iglesias.

My research is focused on using Bayesian modeling and inference to solve different problems related to image restoration and machine learning. I am especially interested in medical image (histological and MRI) image enhancement and analysis.

I love scientific communication and having fun while working. I have been recognized with awards such as the 3-minute thesis (2022), scientific challenges (ENIGMA UGR 2022), or ISBI 2024 Art in Biomedicine.
